The goal of the Eastgate and Washington Avenue Brightways Lighting Initiative is to provide safe, well-lit and attractive public routes for students, faculty, staff, visitors and neighbors of Washington University in St. Louis to use between the Danforth Campus and adjacent communities.

In both projects, Arbolope Studio worked with the University, Quadrangle Housing, community representatives and neighbors to carefully design lighting to create even light distribution while minimizing impacts on homes and existing street trees.

The Eastgate Ave proposal extended improvements made as part of the Lofts of Washington University Student housing project along Delmar Blvd, Eastgate and Enright Ave. The Washington Ave project proposed streetscape improvements including pedestrian lighting in the public right-of-way and within Quadrangle owned properties.
