Project Summary

The expansion of the America’s Center Convention Complex in downtown St. Louis, scheduled to be completed by 2023, features a number of key site and landscape-on-structure improvements.

An enhanced Washington Avenue entrance, the front door of America’s Center serving thousands of event attendees a year, will have a refreshed modern look with a new canopy, LED lighting, touch-less entry, and planted beds, creating a warm, comfortable arrival experience.

An expanded and enclosed system of loading docks doubles the existing capacity while enhancing the center’s aesthetics and concealing trucks from the streetscape.

A green roof covers substantial portions of the expanded convention complex, wile and updated streetscape surrounds the complex, creating a unified and contemporary pedestrian experience.

Most prominently, a new 80,000 SF park with tiered amphitheater type benches, native plantings, and picnicking areas forms an ideal gathering space for large and small groups. The green space fits the needs of outdoor meetings, holds space for large tented events, and improves the convention center district ambiance for residents and area workers.

Notably, the new public park is suspected (unconfirmed) to be the first St. Louis City-owned public park designed by a woman of color.
