Love Bank Park Opens

St. Louis Public Radio

The Redevelopment of Love Bank Park, a "community-lead public space located at the corner of Nebraska and Cherokee Street" is now complete and open to the public!

"Love Bank Park was founded in 2015 by the community. On two vacant lots at the corner of Cherokee St. and Nebraska, business owners and neighbors came together to install a basketball hoop for neighborhood youth and to create a space where the community could come together — to bank on love."

The park was redesigned in 2016 to "create a stronger asset for the street and surrounding community" by Arbolope Studio, a Landscape Architecture firm lead by Wash U Faculty & Alumni, L. Iréne Compadre and the iconic shade pavilion and park structure was designed by the Architecture firm Patterhn-Ives.

After years of community engagement, fundraising and construction - the park was re-opened on April 21st 2024 in a block party- celebration including basketball and chess lessons, artist-lead crafts projects, live djs and mariachi bands, piñatas and dancing.
